The Gift of a Homesteading Heritage

There are some events that we don’t see for the true gift they are until we have the benefit of hindsight and maturity. 

I come from a long line of homesteaders, though we didn’t call ourselves homesteaders. We were just simply country folk who raised a good portion of their own food. Self-sufficiency was a way of life because for generations it wasn’t a choice but the only option.
