A Permaculture Approach to Closing the Garden

On my permaculture homestead, I strive to create an ecosystem where everything is connected. Both forageable cover crops and animals contribute to the health of my pastures, perennial crops provide food and wildlife/insect shelter, co-grazing livestock assist in parasite control between species, and all plants and animals give back to my growing spaces in one way, shape, or form. The closing of the growing season is no exception. Here at the farm, all systems work together to clear the gardens and prepare them for winter, ensuring a fruitful following season.
